Full Size 1911 Grips for Government, Commander & Ruger SR1911
Our 1911 full size grips fit Government and Commander frames from Colt, Springfield Armory, Kimber, Rock Island and Ruger.
They’re also the right grips for most Ruger SR1911 pistols. Choose rosewood, walnut, pearl acrylic or UV-printed designs. Every set ships in a gift box, and most come with screws.
Grips for the Ruger SR1911
The Ruger SR1911 uses a standard single-stack 1911 grip frame, so it takes the same grips as a Colt Government. That covers the 5″ Government-size SR1911 and the 4.25″ Commander-size SR1911.
The one exception is the Officer-style SR1911 with the 3.6″ barrel. It has a shorter grip frame, so it needs our 1911 compact grips instead.

Government and Commander Use the Same Grips
A Commander has a shorter slide than a Government model, but the grip frame is identical. That’s why both take full size grips. Owners often go looking for “Commander grips” and find nothing, because they don’t exist as a separate size.
To check your frame, remove one grip panel and measure from the center of one screw bushing to the center of the other. Full size frames measure 3-1/16″. Compact and Officer frames measure 2-11/16″.
These grips fit single-stack 1911s only. They won’t fit double-stack 1911s or frames with a built-in magwell. Springfield owners can check which 1911 grips fit each Springfield Armory model.

How do I know if my 1911 is full size or compact?
