1911 Compact Grips for Officer & Defender Models — G10, Wood & Rubber
Our 1911 compact grips fit Officer-size frames, including the Colt Officer’s and Defender, Kimber Ultra Carry and Rock Island compact models.
Compact grips use 2-11/16″ screw spacing, so they won’t fit a full size or Commander frame. Choose walnut, pearl acrylic, faux mammoth bark or UV-printed designs. Every set ships in a gift box, and most come with screws.
Which 1911s Take Compact Grips?
The 1911 comes in three frame sizes: Government, Commander and Officer. Government and Commander pistols share the same grip frame, so both take full size grips. Only the shorter Officer frame takes 1911 officer grips.
To check your frame, remove one grip panel and measure from the center of one screw bushing to the center of the other. A compact frame measures 2-11/16″. A full size frame measures 3-1/16″. If yours measures 3-1/16″, you need our 1911 full size grips.

Do full size 1911 grips fit a compact 1911?
No. Full size grips use 3-1/16″ screw spacing, and compact grips use 2-11/16″. The holes won’t line up, so buy grips made for your frame size.
Do 1911 compact grips fit a Commander?
No. The Colt Commander has a shorter slide but a full size grip frame, so it takes full size grips. Compact grips fit Officer-size frames only.
Do 1911 compact grips fit the Springfield EMP?
No. The Springfield EMP has its own frame and needs EMP-specific grips. Standard Officer-size grips won’t fit it.
Are 1911 compact grips and officer grips the same?
