Smith & Wesson grips are frame-specific. Grips made for a J frame won’t fit a K frame, and round-butt grips won’t fit a square-butt frame. Use your model number to find the right fit:
J frame: a small frame with a round butt, used on popular models like the 642, 442, 637, 638, 640, Model 60, Model 36, Model 38, 340 PD and 360. Shop our S&W J frame grips.
K frame: a medium frame with a square butt on the Model 10, 14, 15, 17, 19, 64 and 66 (square-butt versions). Browse the K frame grips above.
Where to find your model number:
Open the cylinder and look at the frame just in front of it, below the barrel. Most S&W revolvers have the model number stamped there. Caliber isn’t a reliable guide to frame size; a .38 Special can be a J frame or a K frame.

Round Butt vs Square Butt
Remove one factory grip panel and look at the bottom of the exposed grip frame. A round butt curves at the bottom rear; a square butt has a flat bottom with a sharp corner.
Our J frame grips fit round-butt J frames, and our K frame grips fit square-butt K frames. Checking this before you order is the single best way to get a perfect fit the first time.

FAQs
Do J frame grips fit K frame revolvers?
No. The J frame is S&W’s small frame and the K frame is medium-sized, so their grips are different sizes. Check your model number and choose grips for your exact frame.
Do your S&W grips come with a screw?
Yes. Most of the set includes the installation screw and ships in a gift box. Installation takes a few minutes, no gunsmith needed. If need any help contact us.
Will your J frame grips fit a Diamondback SDR?
Our half-wrap rosewood J frame round-butt grips also fit the Diamondback SDR.
Are Dan Wesson grips the same as Smith & Wesson grips?
No. Dan Wesson is a separate manufacturer with different revolver frames, so S&W grips won’t fit a Dan Wesson revolver.
