Measure the distance between your grip screw holes center to center. If they are 3 1/16″ (78mm) apart your pistol takes full size grips, Government and Commander frames. If they measure 2 11/16″ (68mm) apart your pistol takes compact grips, Officer and Defender models.

Do I need an ambidextrous safety cut on my 1911 grips?
Only if your pistol has a safety lever on the right side of the frame. Standard single-safety models require no cut. Rock Island Armory needs a Rock Island Ambi cut. STI and Taurus require an Extended Ambi cut. Kimber factory ambi safeties require no special cut unless aftermarket modifications exist.
