The wood is laminated rosewood, denser and more dimensionally stable than solid stock, so the panels hold tolerances across temperature swings and humidity shifts. The Outback checkering is cut into the wood face with a wider, more aggressive diagonal cross-hatch than fine factory checkering, deeper grooves that hold positive index under sweat, gloves, or wet range conditions, without tearing up kydex on the draw. The silver Colt medallion is pressed flush into the panel from behind, raised lettering on a silver-tone face, not surface-bonded.
