Description
These double diamond 1911 grips run the original 1911 checkering pattern, the same diamond-cut texture John Browning’s design called for in 1911, and the one that’s stayed on serious Government-model pistols for over a century because it works. The pattern is cut deep into black rosewood, broken across the middle by an inlaid pearl accent strip, and finished with a black Ruger medallion seated flush at the top of each panel. The medallion is decorative; the grip itself is a standard 1911 panel that fits any Government-spec frame, including the Ruger SR1911 for owners who want matching branding.
Double diamond checkering earns its place over modern aggressive stippling for one specific reason: the diamond points are sharp enough to lock the gun into the hand under recoil but spaced widely enough that they don’t tear at the palm during a 200-round range day. Aggressive stippling and modern G10 textures hit harder; double diamond carries the pistol the way it was designed to be carried.
The pearl accent is solid acrylic pearl, inlaid into the channel of the carved rosewood and cut to thickness — not a painted strip or surface overlay. It catches light against the dark wood and won’t chip at the edges under normal cleaning. The black Ruger medallion is matte-finished metal, set flush below the panel surface, so cleaning patches and bore solvent pass over it without lifting at the edges.
Installation runs five minutes with a hex driver. Loosen the four factory grip screws, lift the old panels off, set the rosewood in place, tighten the screws back down. Standard 3-1/16″ screw spacing, ambi safety cut included. No fitting, no gunsmith.
Fits the full-size single-stack 1911 family, Colt Government, Colt Commander, Kimber, Springfield Armory, Ruger SR1911, Smith & Wesson SW1911, Remington R1, Sig 1911, Rock Island, GSG, and Taurus 1911. These double diamond 1911 grips won’t seat on Officer-size or compact 1911 frames (shorter screw spacing), 2011 double-stacks, or magwell-cut competition pistols.
Black rosewood holds checkering better than softer woods. The diamond points stay sharp through years of carry and cleaning, where walnut tends to round off and lose its bite. The pearl strip and Ruger medallion both survive bore solvent, oil, and the kind of handling a working 1911 actually sees.
30-day return window if the panels don’t seat flush on your pistol.
