Description

Most 1911 grips that carry the Colt rampant horse run the medallion in gold, silver, or white enamel against a flat panel. These Colt medallion 1911 grips do something different: a black-finish Colt rampant horse, inlaid into carved black rosewood, broken across the middle by a strip of acrylic pearl. The black-on-black-on-pearl combination is for buyers who want the Colt mark recognized at close range but not announced from across a parking lot.

Three materials, three jobs. The rosewood gives the panel its weight, hand feel, and dimensional stability. The pearl strip is a solid acrylic pearl inlaid into the wood and cut to thickness, it catches light against the dark body and reads as the focal contrast on the panel. The black Colt medallion sits flush below the rosewood surface, not surface-glued, with a matte finish that doesn’t compete with the pearl for visual weight.

Installation runs five minutes with a hex driver. Loosen the four factory grip screws, pull the old panels off, set the carved rosewood in place, tighten the screws back down. Standard 3-1/16″ screw spacing, ambi safety cut included. No fitting, no gunsmith.

Fits the full-size single-stack 1911 family, Colt Government, Colt Commander, Kimber, Springfield Armory, Ruger SR1911, Smith & Wesson SW1911, Remington R1, Sig 1911, Rock Island, GSG, and Taurus 1911. These Colt medallion 1911 grips won’t seat on Officer-size or compact 1911 frames (shorter screw spacing), 2011 double-stacks, or magwell-cut competition pistols.

Black rosewood is dense enough to hold the carving cleanly through years of handling and dark enough to make both the pearl strip and the black Colt medallion read as deliberate design choices instead of decoration. Every material on the panel survives bore solvent, oil, and the kind of cleaning a working 1911 actually sees.

If you want this same carved-rosewood pearl build with a gold eagle medallion instead of black Colt, that runs as a separate listing in the 1911 category. Cut, carved, and finished in North Carolina. 30-day return window if the panels don’t seat flush on your pistol.

These are some of the best 1911 grips I’ve bought. The black rosewood finish looks premium, fitment was perfect, and the Colt medallions give my full-size 1911 a custom look. Great quality and comfortable grip, highly recommended for any 1911 owner.
