Description
Most Wrangler replacement panels on the market are synthetic, polymer, faux ivory, faux pearl, faux stag. These are the real-wood versions. Walnut panels for the Ruger Wrangler, hand-carved with an American flag relief across the face of each side, finished with a matte black Ruger medallion seated at the top. The carving cuts deep enough into the wood that the flag reads as relief sculpture rather than surface engraving, light catches the stars and stripes at every angle the revolver turns.
Walnut handles carving differently than synthetic materials. The grain takes a deep cut and holds it, and the natural wood color darkens slowly as hand oils settle into the surface over time. A Wrangler with these panels at year one and year five will look like related but distinct revolvers, the wood carries the history of how it’s been used. That patina behavior is something polymer and acrylic panels can’t replicate.
The black Ruger medallion is metal, set flush below the walnut surface rather than glued on top. It sits dark against the lighter wood without competing with the carved flag for visual weight, and survives standard cleaning solvents and oils without lifting at the edges or staining the wood around it.
**Fitment confirmation required before purchase.** Ruger sells the Wrangler in two grip frame profiles, the longer, straight-bottomed plowhandle XR3-style frame and the shorter, downward-curved birdshead frame. The panels’ screw geometry differs between the two. Confirm your Wrangler’s frame type matches the listing before ordering. Wrong-frame orders won’t seat flush on the revolver and need to be exchanged.
Installation runs three minutes once you’ve confirmed the right frame. Back out the factory side-plate screw, lift the plastic panels off, set the walnut in place, drive the screw back through. No fitting work.
30-day return window if the panels don’t seat correctly on your Wrangler.
