Description

These carved Colt Python wood grips are made for the 2020+ Python and the current-production Anaconda, Kodiak, and Grizzly that share the same I-frame. They take the standard rosewood Python panel and add what most aftermarket grips don’t: hand-carved scrollwork along the borders and a snake-scale texture across the face, a nod to the Python’s namesake. The center medallion is a Texas Star, set into the rosewood rather than glued on.

The panels are cut from black rosewood Dymondwood, a stabilized birch-and-rosewood laminate infused with phenolic resin under heat and pressure. This matters for carved grips specifically: solid rosewood splits or chips along carved edges over time, while Dymondwood holds the detail of fine scrollwork without losing definition after years of holster wear or cleaning solvent exposure.

Most engraved or carved Python grips at this level of detail come from Altamont or Eagle Grips, where similar work runs $200–$300. At $83, this sits in a position the Python aftermarket doesn’t usually fill, collector-grade aesthetics at standard wood-grip pricing.

Fitment: Drop-in for the post-2020 Python frame. Also fits the current-production Anaconda, Kodiak, and Grizzly (shared I-frame). Will not fit pre-2005 Pythons or 1990–2003 Anacondas without filing. Installation uses the existing single grip screw (included) and runs about five minutes with a flathead.

Who these are for: Python collectors, owners building a display or BBQ gun, or shooters who want their Python to look like nothing else at the range. Especially good for Texas owners or anyone drawn to the Lone Star aesthetic.

Who should skip these: If you regularly shoot full-house .357 Magnum (50+ rounds per session), the carved face doesn’t add the hand traction that deep checkering does, Hogue Monogrips are a better choice for sustained heavy-recoil shooting. If you want a plain factory-style look, our standard checkered black rosewood Python grips are the cleaner choice.

Made by Premium Grips, with 50,000+ pistol grip sets sold on Amazon serving Colt, 1911, Sig Sauer, and Smith & Wesson owners. Backed by a 30-day fit guarantee, if your Python frame doesn’t match, return for a full refund.
