Description
These classic 1911 grips run the traditional double-diamond checkering pattern, the same texture that’s been on Government-model 1911s since John Browning’s original spec, across warm-toned rosewood panels, finished with matte black Ruger-logo medallions inlaid into each side. The medallion is decorative; the grip itself is a standard 1911 panel that fits any Government-spec frame, including Ruger SR1911 owners who want matching branding.
The “classic checkered” pattern is named for a reason. It’s the original 1911 grip texture, kept on serious 1911s for a century because it works. The diamond cuts are deep enough to lock the gun into the hand under recoil but spaced widely enough that the points don’t tear at the palm during a long range day. Modern aggressive stippling hits harder; this carries the pistol the way it was designed to be carried.
Install takes under five minutes with a hex driver. Loosen the four factory grip screws, lift the old panels off, set the rosewood panels in place, snug everything back down. No fitting required.
Fits the full-size single-stack 1911 family, Colt Government, Colt Commander, Kimber, Springfield Armory, Ruger SR1911, Smith & Wesson SW1911, Remington R1, Sig 1911, Rock Island, GSG, and Taurus 1911. Standard 3-1/16″ screw spacing, ambi safety cut included. Officer-size and compact 1911s use shorter spacing — different panel set. 2011 double-stacks and magwell-cut competition builds also won’t seat.
Rosewood is the right wood for checkering because the points stay sharp through years of use. Softer woods round off and the texture flattens; rosewood holds its cut. The matte black Ruger medallion is inlaid below the panel surface, not surface-glued, so cleaning patches and solvents pass over it without lifting the edge.
Made in North Carolina. 30-day return window if the panels don’t seat flush on your pistol.
