Do these 1911 rosewood grips fit my model?
They fit standard single-stack 1911s from Colt, Kimber, Springfield, Rock Island, Ruger SR1911, S&W, and similar. Measure between your grip screws: 3-1/16″ (78mm) is full size (Government/Commander); 2-11/16″ (68mm) is compact (Officer/Defender). Double-stack 2011 frames use different panels.
Do I need an ambi safety cut — and which one?
Only if your 1911 has a thumb safety on the right side of the frame. The cut isn’t universal: most standard 1911s take a standard ambi cut, but a Rock Island ambi safety needs a Rock Island-specific cut, STI and Taurus need an extended cut, and Kimber ambi safeties usually need no special cut. A single left-side safety takes a standard panel.
What's the difference between checkered and smooth rosewood grips?
Checkered rosewood 1911 grips,usually the double diamond pattern, have crisp cut checkering for traction and the classic look. Smooth grips are polished flat for a cleaner appearance that glides against clothing on a carry gun. Both are cut from the same real rosewood.

What about the mainspring pin and magwell cut?
Standard panels leave the mainspring housing pin exposed, the classic look. If you run an added magwell, choose a magwell-profile grip that sits flush at the bottom. The rear notch is mostly preference some like the pin covered, some exposed for detail-stripping.
