1911 Rosewood Grips

Checkered & Smooth Rosewood Panels, Cut to Fit Your 1911

1911 rosewood grips are the timeless upgrade, the warm, deep grain of real rosewood against blued or stainless steel, cut to drop straight onto your pistol. Every set is machined for a precise fit, ships with screws and bushings in the box, and installs in about two minutes with no gunsmith.

Whether you want classic double diamond checkering for a sure hold or smooth panels for a cleaner look, you’ll find 1911 wood grips full size and compact options below. Keep reading to match the right set to your frame.

Checkered, Smooth & Slim Styles

Rosewood suits a few very different looks, and they’re all here. 1911 wood grips checkered in the classic double diamond pattern are the most-requested, crisp, pointed checkering that adds traction and gives that iconic 1911 profile, often paired with silver or gold Colt medallions.

Smooth, high-polish panels go cleaner and glide against a shirt for a carry gun. For a thinner feel, 1911 slim wood grips hug the frame for a lower-profile hold.

Every style is cut from real wood 1911 grips stock for a reddish-brown depth printed panels can’t fake. Prefer darker? See our black rosewood, or lighter, walnut.

Full Size vs. Compact — Fitment & Ambi Cut

Getting the fit right is simple once you know your frame. 1911 wood grips full size fit Government and Commander models, the quick check is grip-screw spacing of 3-1/16 inches (78mm). 1911 compact wood grips fit Officer and Defender frames at 2-11/16 inches (68mm).

If your pistol wears a thumb safety on both sides, you’ll want 1911 ambi grips wood with the relief cut, and note the cut varies by maker (standard for most, but Rock Island, STI, and Taurus differ).

These wood 1911 grip panels fit standard single-stack 1911s from Colt, Kimber, Rock Island, Ruger SR1911, S&W, and Springfield 1911 wood grips builds alike. Not sure which you need? Measure between the grip screws, then browse full size or compact fits.

FAQs

Do these 1911 rosewood grips fit my model?

They fit standard single-stack 1911s from Colt, Kimber, Springfield, Rock Island, Ruger SR1911, S&W, and similar. Measure between your grip screws: 3-1/16″ (78mm) is full size (Government/Commander); 2-11/16″ (68mm) is compact (Officer/Defender). Double-stack 2011 frames use different panels.

Only if your 1911 has a thumb safety on the right side of the frame. The cut isn’t universal: most standard 1911s take a standard ambi cut, but a Rock Island ambi safety needs a Rock Island-specific cut, STI and Taurus need an extended cut, and Kimber ambi safeties usually need no special cut. A single left-side safety takes a standard panel.

Checkered rosewood 1911 grips, usually the double diamond pattern, have crisp cut checkering for traction and the classic look. Smooth grips are polished flat for a cleaner appearance that glides against clothing on a carry gun. Both are cut from the same real rosewood.

Yes. Our checkered double diamond rosewood sets are available with properly seated silver or gold Colt medallions, inlaid into the panel, not surface-applied, for a clean, factory-correct finish on Government models and most clones.

Standard panels leave the mainspring housing pin exposed, the classic look. If you run an added magwell, choose a magwell-profile grip that sits flush at the bottom. The rear notch is mostly preference some like the pin covered, some exposed for detail-stripping.
